Laptop BIOS upgrade/new HDD

  bamfiesler 09:06 11 May 03

Have just sourced a replacement HDD for my IBM laptop. The guy at the shop mentioned a BIOS upgrade might be advisable. I've downloaded the relevant driver; how do I go about a) installing the new HDD; b)upgrading the BIOS.

All help appreciated! :)

AMD 4 ever 09:26 11 May 03 step at the time. Do not install the update bio on someone elses just say so. He might know the history. ALWAYS proceed with cautio where the updating of a bios is needed. Besides most times these do not need updating!!

Try the hard drive first. Is it internal or a USB HDD?

It's a recon internal, 2.1 gig.

I took the old drive out myself.

What is the make/model of your laptop? What size do you have in there now? I doubt that a BIOS flash would be needed to be honest, but I need a bit more info.

It's an old IBM 380D; there was a 2.1G in previous; model No:DTNA-22110; New one is DCRA-22110.

Swap it over...I suspect it will recognise it, and then you will need to fdisk-format
