Laptop battery stops charging at 25%

The laptop battery stops chargin at 25%, no matter what I do it stops, I unplug/replug the battery and it cuts out after 30 seconds once it is up to 25%. The battery is 6 years old.

I though batteries either worked or didn't. Is this a typical sign of old age or is it a fixable problem ?

Thanks.

You need a new one afte six years, I don't have my battery in when I use it at home

40 minutes working use is still enough for me, but I just wondered if there was a magic fix that anyone had discovered... I have tried complete 25% charge and discharge cycles but it doesn't improve. I'm sure it is not fixable, but if anyone has some magical tip ... ?
