laptop battery

Hi I have just been given a 2nd hand laptop which works great apart from the battery only lasts about 15 minutes. The laptop is a compaq Evo N610c. Can I just buy a new battery or do I need a whole battery pack. I am very new to laptops so I am not sure what I need to do.

A battery that lasts as short a time as 15 minutes is almost certainly on its last legs and requires replacing. The battery comes as a `pack` - the whole lump you remove from the bottom of the laptop - so it is not repairable with new parts, in fact it would be dangerous to try.

You don`t give details of the laptop so I suggest you look click here and see what`s available. You may find the battery is so expensive that it is hardly worthwhile for an old laptop.

Just re-read your post and see I was wrong. MAJ has put you right.

meanwhile, if you want to use it near a mains plug, you can run it on mains electricity without a battery at all.
