Laptop is 802.11b can I use 802.1g router?

Still trying to work out which router to buy seen the Linksys one with good reviews but confused by this statement,
"Works at blistering 54mbps speeds with 802.11g ... and is compatible with 802.11b at 11 mbps "
Does that mean it would be slow with 802.11b ?
(PS just noticed the spec for the laptop says it has 802.11b/g- what does that mean??)
Also, the spec for the router says that I could share a printer between laptop and PC, is this easy?
Thanks!

is backward compatible with 802.11b.

802.11b had a slower transfer rate than 802.11g, but your laptop may have a 802.11g card, which means that it would work at the faster data transfer rate.

Printer sharing is relatively easy. It can be done by sharing the printer within the Windows operating system, or via a "print server", which may be inbuilt into the router you are looking at.

Certainly some of the routers say that it can be shared.
