Hay all

Ok, my sister’s laptop was running a bit slow dew to its age and what’s its trying to run. So i decided to increase the Ram. It’s a 1400+ (1.2 GHz) Amd, which had 256Mb of Pc133. I installed another stick of 256 bringing it to 512. But within a day of doing so, the machines started crashing for some reason. It displays the following error message.

*** Stop:0x00000001 (0x000002B4, 0x00000000, 0xF75E9F0C)

*** Class PNP.SYS - Address F75E9F0C base at F75E9000

I find it hard to believe that the new RAM could cause this problem, but its the only change made to the machine in the last 24 hours, and the crash has happened twice.

Any idea's?

Which version of Windows?

Looked on my system and it looks like it might have something to do with a drive for something. I'm not sure what it could before though.

Systems Xp. the only thing I could think of was maybe a Web cam? As that has been freezing while being used. But it’s a little bit of a coincident for this error to start occurring just after having installed Ram.

Am i right in saying that there’s no way it could be cause by the new Ram?

I would suspect the web cam.

I think PNP.SYS is to do with Plug 'n Pray - not to do with RAM.

The obvious way to check is to remove the stick of RAM and see if the problem persists.

See, that was my first though when I say the name PNP.sys. The First error happen just 10 to 20 seconds after the camera was plugged in. The second one happened for no apparent reason to my knowledge.
