Lap Top Battery Charging

My son's laptop recently froze on shutdown. After all the usual attempts to put it right, he had to resort to removing the battery. Now, it either works or charges. Any suggestions, please, about how to put this right?

If it does not work with the battery in, its probably got a internal short in the battery

Laptop Battery not showing Charging

  1. Turn off the computer,
  2. Take the battery out
  3. Take out the power supply
  4. Push the power button down for 30 seconds.
  5. Reconnect power supply
  6. check laptop boots OK
  7. reconnect battery
  8. check battery shows charging~
  9. when battery charged shut down
  10. disconnect power supply and check laptop boots off battery only.

~Should now show 100% charged. This is because sometimes the mother board gets static and this clears it and the reason it showed not charging was because it was fully charged.
