Silly question....

How is it that i can download a 100Mb file from the web in about 180(give or take) seconds but to transfer it to and from my NAS (via ftp) which is on my 100Mb lan it takes much longer?

I have a Netgear 100Mb wireless/wired ADSL router with an xbox360 - Wired, Asus EEEpc - Wireless, Win vista PC - Wired, NAS 100Mb FTP/SMB drive - Wired connected and the only firewall running is the Windows vista one and the one built into the router.

Any ideas if its something i can change on the router to increase FTP speeds?

Vista has known problems with copying large files. Many references to this if you google - one such here
