Labtop CD Drive not responding in Windows XP

Hello All,

My cousin recently aquired a new labtop which he got second hand. He reformatted the hardrive and installed Windows XP after having windows NT on it. Everything works fine.

However, when his cd drive does not seem to responds whilst in windows. I.e. you put a cd in and it just spins, you got to explore the contents of the Cd and nothing comes up, just a emplty drive folder.

His Cd drive is a Teac DW224-E. The labtop is a Compaq one.

Thanks for your advice, i eagerly await your reply.

Are you trying a cdrw in the drive? If so the computer may not recognise the data depending on how it was written in the first place. Can you see data on a music cd. If you right click the cd drive in my computer do you see the autoplay option? If not you can download a fix for this from Microsoft.
