Hands-on: Samsung Galaxy S8 review
We've got a Kodak 5300 multifunction printer, and have had ongoing problems with the coloured inks. This printer has a single colour cartridge by the way, not individual ones. In brief, here's what's happened.
In Dec 08 / Jan 09 we had problems with the red ink - it just wouldn't print anything in red. Eventually we phoned Kodak Support, who were extremely helpful, talked us through the process of checking over the printer, sent a replacement printhead, and then eventually a replacement printer, in January.
All great until about a week ago (Mid May). Now exactly the same thing is happening again, except that this time it's the yellow ink that won't print. I've gone through the same process that I was advised last time, doing several cleans of the printhead, plus calibrating it. Still no yellow ink.
We're going to phone Kodak tomorrow (Monday). But in the meantime, has anyone got any ideas about what could be causing this - are we doing anything wrong? We print in colour fairly regularly, but mainly just documents with a bit of coloured text, rather than loads of photographs. For the last week we've made a point of printing something in colour every day, in case it needs regular use.
Apart from these problems we like this multifunction printer, and the ink (assuming it works!) doesn't cost a huge amount. Fortunately we've got another printer, an ancient Epson which is still going strong, but is just a printer and not a scanner & copier.
Another thing that intrigues us is the lack of mention of Kodak printers in any of these forums (either negative or positive). There's loads of mention of Canon, Epson etc, but nobody ever seems to mention Kodak. We can't quite work out what to read into that!
All comments would be really welcome, please!
