Can anyone advise how to change the keypad mouse sensitivity on a laptop?

my friend is saying that when he drags the cursor it often disappears to somewhere else - from this i am thinking maybe he is draging his finger when he decides where to finally plce the cursor!?

so i want to change the sensitivity so that it will not pick up sudden and light strokes on the pad.

laptop is an acer.

thanks
