?? Keyboard Trouble

XPHome SP2
Although the 'figures' key row on my keyboard appears to function normally in any application; when I am trying to contact some Websites i.e. Domgen or Barclays Bank, the sites refuse to accept my Post Code advising "Incorrect Post Code please check and re-enter". Repeated efforts fail until I use the 'keypad' for the numerals (7 & 1) instead of the 'row'. when all goes smoothly.
Yes, I appreciate that I know what to do to overcome the hiccup, but I should like to know why I need to do it..

It can only be because they are forcong you too. Every key on your keyboard produces a different code - the codes are all interpreted by the software, and may be set to produce different results in different circumstances.

I have no idea at all why the sites are doing this - but they can, and clearly they are.

If it's a new keyboard why not uninstall the installer, reboot and reinstall. There might have been a corruption somewhere. If it's the original keyboard then I'm at a loss.
