I have an Inspiron 4100 attached to a "docking station" and a Logitech wireless keyboard and mouse.
When my computer tries to go into standby i get a window which says
The "standard 101/102-keyboard or Microsoft Natural PS/2 keyboards device is preventing the machine from entering standby.

I have uninstalled the keyboard and deleted setup and all other related programmes-any other ideas

Go to control panel and look in add/remove progs..is Adobe Type Manager there? if so remove it.

did that but still wont work. It also will not respond to the quick undocking mechanism. A similar window comes up saying that the same thing is preventing the undocking mechanism from working

A further complication-I have discovered that the keyboards is still installed under control/keyboard/hardware.
When I try to uninstall it and reboot, the computer then says it recognises new hardware and reinstalls it automatically.

S[pikey Chris's response didn't help Victoria, but it solved my problem. Yes Adobe Type Manager interferes with standby and hibernation and Wiondows generates an error message blaming the keyboard/mouse drivers. Removing the Type Manager solved the problem on my laptop, but only after restarting the computer.
