keyboard to open shortcut

I've forgotten the sequence for allocating a keystroke (control+alt) for opening a desktop programme. Can anyone help

First create a short cut on your desktop. Right click on this and choose Properties and Shortcut card, click in the Shortcut key box and type a character, Ctrl+Alt will automatically added.
