Keyboard not loaded on boot

  nala12 13:20 16 Aug 04

Keyboard lights flash when processor switched on but boot up warns keyboard is missing press F1 to continue. Boot up continues normally without pressing F1 and windows load as usual. Mouse is not affected but will freeze if any keys are pressed on the keyboard. I have tried a different keyboard but the result is the same.

Is this a virus or a motherboard failure please. My PC is not yet 6 months old.

What motherboard do you have and is your keyboard USB or PS2.
What operating system.

If your keyboard is PS2, ensure that it is connected into the correct socket. Plugging the keyboard into the mouse socket can cause odd misbehaviour - likewise plugging the mouse into the keyboard socket.

Do any changeovers with the computer OFF.
