Keyboard doesn't work after login........

Evening all!

Hope someone can help me! I have a dell Inspiron laptop running on XP. I can log on fine (using keyboard) but then as soon as I get into Windows the keyboard won't work! There are no yellow exclamation marks in device manager and it used to work fine, so I am thinking virus or Motherboard issue?

Thanks in advance!

Do you have another account on the laptop that will let you login & use the keyboard in Windows? If yes, try click here.

If no joy with the above, you can use the the onscreen keyboard (OSK) click here as a stop-gap solution. As you can see, the OSK is accessible without use of the keyboard. G

Not on XP but can you use the finger pad to go to control panel and find keyboard settings? Might be able to enable the keyboard from there.

Thank you very much. There is a guest account that I will try.

It probably is an issue with the filter keys option being checked however i'm not sure how that could have happened!?

Thanks for your time, will let you know how I get on.

I never knew the on screen keyboard existed!!

That is great!

Just to let you know it was that the 'filter keys' option had been checked.

Not sure how that happened but it had and now it is working!!

Thank you very much.
