key logging software

Just a quickie, can key logging software recognise items selected from drop down menus? I refer to malware of course.

No, Key logging is what it says. It logs key strokes.

I’m pretty certain that some key logging software can be set up to take regular snapshots of your desktop as well as key strokes. The saved picture files along with the keystrokes can then be sent to any other another PC.

Thanks, you've all confirmed what I thought, really appreciate that.

The reason for the query is that my bank, in its wisdom, has changed my log on protocol for business internet banking by replacing my memorable information (3 characters from my 13 character info in 3 separate drop down menus) with a card reader where I have to type in a password generated by the reader from my debit card. They think its more secure, I think its more vulnerable even leaving aside the card cloning risk. Of course they don't agree!

"I have to type in a password generated by the reader from my debit card."

This is a Pin Sentry System and is much safer than your riginal security measure.
The number it produces which you type in is a one off generated number and cannot be used again.
