Keeps rebooting up to XP PRO Icon

When I start up my computer it boots up to the XP Pro icon & then goes on to the page where it says "we apologise for the inconvenience windows did not start etc. It also gives you 5 options

Safe mode
Safe mode with networking etc.
Safe mode with command prompt
etc.

No matter which option you choose it will always reboot up to the XP Pro Icon at start up & then go back to the 5 options again.

Could anyone please advise. Thank you.

Do you have an XP CD? If so, boot with it and try a repair.

Yes I have tried repairing it but it won't let me do it.

What error messages, if any, are you getting?

When I try to repair it using the cd it only goes up to "Setup did not find any hard disk drives installed in your computer. etc" When you check it in the bios it shows it as Maxtor 6Y120M.
