Hi, don't panic - it is a Windows critical update. Have a look at the Microsoft Update Site.

Cheers.

I note that this issue is posted as resolved. However I installed the latest version on August 11 and my Win98 system has slowed to a crawl.I see that KB891711 has appeared on my start up tab, but removing it from there doesnt seem to speed things up.Is current advice still to back this out somehow?

I run Win 98SE and had problems months ago (can't remember exactly what at the moment) after installing this update so I unticked it in msconfig Start-up and then removed it using Add/remove. Computer's been OK ever since.
