Kapersky ?

Thinking of d/loading this free from Barclays.
At present I just have MES which seems to work OK.
Presumably if I get Kapersky I must get rid of MES?
Not sure which version Barclays are giving away.
Is there much criticism of Kapersky?
XP Home SP3.

Hi, yes you will have to get rid of MES, Barclays Free Kaspersky is excellent. You cand download it, and it should be KIS 2011. If it downloads as KIS 2010 look around the page and you will see an upgrade.
I am in Menorca at the moment so can't be more specific

Kaspersky is one of the better suites. The download is probably 2010 but there is a free update to 2011. It will provide anti-virus, anti-malware, anti-phishing and a firewall. I haven't had any problems. Malwarebytes never finds anything on my system running Kaspersky.

I reckon that it is better than MSE. From Barclays it also free. As rawprawn states you will have to uninstall MSE as you cannot have 2 anti-virus programs working on the same system.

Thanks both of you.
Presumably the Windows Firewall showing in Security Centre is the MSE one.?

No, that's the Windows XP firewall which will still be there

  Woolwell 12:46 29 Sep 10

The Windows XP firewall is not very good.

I have Kapersky from Barclays & have been very pleased with it but what happens when the 12 months is up? do you then have to pay for it?

  Woolwell 13:42 29 Sep 10

No - I have recently renewed for free.

Firstly apologies to KaSpersky for missing out the 's'.
Well I d'loaded and saved Kasp., went off line, uninstalled MES with Revo advanced, ran Kasp installer three times and three times it said there is conflicting software on the PC. The entry in the box referred to a Kasp. file! Chose 'remove' and nothing happened. Clicked next and had to restart
So after 3 restarts I have gone back to MES.
I know--I gave up too easily!
Thanks anyway.

click here according to the information KIS should detect and uninstall MSE? Maybe worth trying again as KIS is a good AV.
