On switching on, computer runs for approx 6 seconds, then the PSU trips out, on switching the PSU off and then back on after 1 minute, it will again run for 6 seconds. IS this PSU related or could this be caused by incorrect connections on the FPI connector?. Or any other suggestions

XP 2000 athlon. 500Mb DDR ram. 128 Mb Graphics radeon, 40Gb H/drive Maxor. power supply 400w Jeantech.

Many thanks. Harry

Have you used spacers under the motherboard to insulate it from the chassis? Did you use heat paste between the cpu and the fan? One of these two seems most likely.

Check the cpu fan is plugged into the correct power point, the bios may be detecting fan speed as zero and shuting down, if you have used a case fan power point by mistake.

Thanks for the suggestions. I seem to have cured that particular problem by using a second set of power leads from the PSU, but am faced with another problem, will search the archives to see if it has already been answered.
