Just when I thought everything was ok!

I've got a program called 'Quick Shutdown' which is an icon which sits in the system tray and you just d/c on it to shutdown. The icon disappeared from the sys tray and would only appear after going into start>programs and clicking on the program name. I thought I'd uninstall and re-install it but this error comes up 'The registry file C:\PROGRA~1\QUICKS~1\UNINSTAL.LOG is damaged' how do I rectify this? TR

What O/S are you using. Can you use system restore to go back to before you installed it.

If you can, then do this, go to your program folder, and delete all the files associated with it. Then reinstall it.

ALso when you did unistall it, what did you use, Add/Remove programs? or something else.

You can use the DOS command- scanreg /restore

Boot and press F8 repeatedly before Windows starts to load.

Choose from the DOS screen which will come up ...Command prompt only.

type scanreg /restore and <enter>

Follow the prompts, choose a date earlier than your catastrophe. Windows will then use a copy of the register as it was on that day.
