Just a Simple Site in a few hours

This new room is very good and it's nice that people like Taran and FE are taking so much time to pass on their expertise. I do intend to use their knowledge and help in the future to make my own very simple site more attractive.

However I thought it may be encouraging for other rank new comers to web building to see my site, if only for the purpose of comparison. I know that it lacks excellence and may even, quite fairly, be described as rubbish but I did this in one afternoon without any previous knowledge at all.

My point really is if I can do this in about five hours at my first attempt, and with no help, then to progress further with help then there is hope for us all.

I did it by the way with Namo Web Editor3 from a cover disc. Very easy to insert images etc. (Eg, see Kites To Katy) The content may not of course be everyones cup of tea but have a quick look anyway. Don't be put off by the pop-ups, if you don't employ a stopper, there's only two at the beginning and it's a free host afterall.

Well done you.

I really liked the "A PLACE CALLED MAREHAY" page and as for "Whadayersay?", well, it tickled me no end.

It's also encouraging, as you say, for anyone thinking about starting off to just take the bull by the horns and go for it.

You are absolutely right in that you don't need the latest, greatest software to produce good results and you certainly don't have to learn complicated code or any one of lots of equally confusing things. There are web designing sites out there that would have you believe that you need to be some kind or quantum physics professor just to make a homepage, and nothing could be further from the truth.

All you need is the time and inclination to try and you have obviously done just that and come through shining.

You aren't the only person that uses free software from magaziine cover CDs to good effect, so it does go to show that you don't need to invest anything other than your time and imagination.

Thanks for sharing the site with us.

It certainly bucked me up this morning.

:o)

Best regards

Taran

Nice site, but I cannot read the red text. Colour blindness is very common. Red text on yellow background we might manage, but not red on brown.

and the Internet would be a better place.

Thanks for sharing it with us, and for making this FE smile with pleasure.

My favourite? Took a memory out to lunch.

Pesala's right about red text on brown by the way - about 2% of the male population have a problem with red colour blindness and will not be able to read the text on a brown background. Don't change it to green text though - almost 6% of men can't see green on brown.

Thanks very much folks, you've really brightened my day with your kind words.

I've changed the red to gold as per your advice and I will bear the colour blindness issue in mind for the future. Actually it looks better now any way I think.

Pesala -- I did the test and I thank you for that as at last I've discovered something about myself that seems to be perfect. It must be the only thing I think :0)

It does look much better.

Very nice, some to make you laugh, others, like Old Joe, to make you cry. The message in Doors is spot-on.
