ok folks i think i am am right in saying that if i install 133mhz ram on a 100mhz lappy it will work ok but only at 100mhz . am i correct in this assumption? i only ask as i wish to upgrade the 256 i have to 512 and the ram type (after extensive online searching ) can only be found as 133mhz

Yes it will work at 100. It will work as fast as your slowest RAM. Which in this case is 100.

Thats assuming the RAM.

If its a brand new stick then it might work at 133 depending on your motherboard.

But the diffeence between 100 and 133 nothing to jump about.

Yes, you are generally correct. Sometimes there are problems associated with this situation, but for the most part no worries.

Try the crucial site though - they often have RAM for older machines.
