I just installed one of the mobile athlon xp 2500 processors into my computer. All went fine, i applied the artic silver paste and the HSF and booted up at 800Mhz unknown cpu type.

i selected the auto features in the mainboard bios and it registered as an XP Mobile processor on boot but at the wrong clock speeds.

Bored with messing around i went for the kill and upped the FSB to 200Mhz and the multiplier to 12 with a voltage of 1.7. The computer booted at 2.4Ghz as an Unknown CPU type. So far it is running at 40 Degrees C which is cooler than my old XP 2400 chip.

How can i get the processor to be recognised as an XP3200 or XP 3400 at boot?

Secondly, what voltage should i be running this at? is 1.7 too high?

Having a few problems now...Certain applications will not load and the average CPU temp is around 46 Degrees.

What Voltage/Multiplier with a 200FSB should i be using to achieve stability at 2.4Ghz.

What is prime 95 and where can you get it from?

Is there any way i can increase the speed of the HSF to lower temps and have it running higher. Its a very quiet fan, only running at around 2500rpm at moment.
