I got rid of them via disk clean-up, but is it suggested and safe to remove these- it was a massive file beacause i have never deleted them and it was clogging up my drives.
So is it safe to remove them?

Yep

Yup. Open IE, Tools Menu, Hit the Settings button and reduce the reversed space down to 25mb or so. You don't need loads of space.

I have set it to 50- so will the temporary files just delete automatically if they go over 50mb?
