but the heatsink that came with it wont fit on my mobo (oblong shaped, where my old one is square), so could i buy a new heatsink, by the way the pro is an amd 2000+ bought from ebuyer and the mobo is an ECS K7SEM V.3. My old pro is a 1200+

BUT, you must make sure it is capable of dissipating the not inconsiderable heat generated from your 2000+.

It is very easy to cook an Athlon!

The alternative, if it's only a minor adjustment, is to modify the existing heat sink, but I stress, ONLY minor adjustments.
