just bought a domain name / How do I setup email

  pcgal 14:39 14 Jun 05

I've just bought a domain name through "123reg" and I want to receive email on my personalised domain.
It takes 24 - 48 hours for the domain to become active but what do I do then?

I'll obviously have to register my email addresses through the control panel (I assume) but whats all this mention of email forwarding on the 123reg site?

Any advice much appreciated

The company you purchased the domain name from should have a tutorail expalining how to setup your new email address in Outlook Express. You will need to know the POP and SMTP settings.

Most domain registrars do not run POP3 or SMTP servers.

They require you to forward the incoming 'AnyName@YourDomain.co.uk' to your usual ISP email address.

This is probably what the email forwarding in their control panel is about.

Then you can setup your return address in outlook express to be your 'AnyName@YourDomain.co.uk' address, then to all outsiders that will be your email address.

If you then change ISP, all you need do is change the email forwarding from your domain, to your new ISP email address.
