I am new to Win Xp and have just noticed that when I use "Save as" to save a .jpg photo in IE6 the file is saved as a .jpeg file.
Some of my graphics software won't display .jpeg (only .jpg) so how can I stop from happening?

Graphics Software is please.

You will probably have to Save & convert the file to your software file format.

As "Jpeg" and "Jpg" are the same format I'm not sure why you have a problem. What software are you referring to.

Hi Waveman & Harry
Yes I agree there is no difference between jpg and jpeg so why is Microsoft changing the extension for no good reason?

when the file is saved, set the folders to show extensions and change the .jpeg to .jpg and see what happens. Also when you save just type .jpg at the end and what happens?

Cretin07 - Yes I can change the file type but didn't want to have to do this for the rest of my Win XP life!!

Thanks for that Cretin07 - I am not sure there is anything wrong with the file associations - just Microsoft. i will have a look in the registry sometime!
