Jpg - Download File Dialogue Box Issue?

  We5ty 11:54 11 Jul 06

Can anyone throw some ideas my way regarding this odd issue please?

When opening, or at least trying to open, a jpeg file in Windows Explorer the download dialogue box appears, then repeatedely blinks (loops)!

The system is a bit antiquated, running Win98 SE, but other than this odd issue the system seems perfectly fine.

I'm 100% certain it's not malicious software, so has anyone got any ideas?

Thanks in advance.

Can you open the file directly in an image prog, ie. paint, ps elements, psp, etc?

Is it just 1 file or many that you have this prob with?

Sorry can't help, but answers to the above may enable someone else to help you.

Do this put your 98 CD in comp, and type SFC in run then press enter run the program to look for Corrupt files

vinnyT - Yes they'll open with a graphics prog, and it's all jpgs that are affected.

Thanks woodchip, will try and advise.

Many thanks

Only just logged on, sounds like it's a fault within explorer, woodchips' advice should work, by repairing any faulty/missing files.

It could also need this running. As IE and Windows Explorer are linked

Thanks to all.

Turned out to be corrupt file associations.
