Jpeg replaced by Windows Picture & Fax problem

  portofcall 22:41 21 Aug 03

Ah, recently re-installed aol 8.0. I often have to download pictures in Jpeg format. Aol seems adamant on bitmap. However, I was instructed to change preferences under instruction from aol. Did so and thought all was fine. Now all downloads state they are in jpegs but end up in folder under "file". To open photo downloads I have to open file and then open under windows picture and fax format. No one at aol knows why? I also changed back to IE upon re-install. What and where have I gone wrong. I cannot find file of windows picture and fax. So, there you go.
