Joypad installation problem

I`m trying to install a new usb joypad onto a clean install of XP Home.

The instructions with the pad say that it uses standard windows drivers.

When I plug the pad in (a JP260 Logic 3) I get the new hardware device message and the machine searches unsuccesfully for a driver.

I have also tried to get it to work via control panel/ gaming devices but when I try to add a 6 button pad I again get the new hardware device message and again dont find a driver.

Help!

did you get any software with the joypad?if so unplug the joypad & load the driver in first then plug the joypad back in.this will find new h/ware &then find the drivers.

No there was no software. I checked the manufacturers web site and it says that the pad uses the genereric drivers already in windows so doesnt need a seperate driver.

I tried having my windows CD in the drive when the PC is searching for the driver but still no luck.
