JIT debugging

The following is the 'instructions' on how to enable JIT. Great, now where do I type them, not CMD or Run, can anyone put it in English for me, I mean real simple :-)

To enable just in time (JIT) debugging, the config file for this
application or machine (machine.config) must have the
jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.
The application must also be compiled with debugging

For example:

system.windows.forms jitDebugging="true" />

When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception
will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the machine
rather than being handled by this dialog.

I have no idea what JIT is or does but there is a setting for it in the Advanced section of IE options, dont know if that will help.

Sorry ACOLYTE, not on my machine there isn't, Tools/Internet Options/Advance Tab, is that where you mean?

I right clicked the IE icon on the desktop selected properties then advanced then scrolled down to Java and on mine it says JIT compiler for virtual machine enebled, with a tick in it.

Just the same list , no JIT, I feel a Format coming on.

Yes there are a couple of Java (Sun) is on that list.

JIT debugging, is "Just In Time Debugging" and can be enabled when you have written a program or website yourself, using a development environment i.e. Visual Studio.

Then when you compile the program / web site, you compile with debugging switched on, then when you run your program, or visit your website and it falls over it starts up your development environment to enable you to debug the program.

So my question is.. why are you trying to enable JIT debugging? have you written a web site or program that is falling over / crashing?

If you haven't written the program or web site then even if you did have a development environment like visual studio, you would still not have the base code to debug.

Not sure what your problem is, can you explain more.

One Java (sun)

Me write a program or create a web site?? No, every time I try to open one program I get a MS .Net Framework box telling me “An unhandled exception has occurred… blah blah”. When I view the ‘details’, before all the error reports, I am told to “see the end of this message for details on invoking (JIT) debugging instead of this dialog box”

In that case it is the program you are trying to run, that is written in .NET, that is crashing.

What's the program? if it's commercial, I would contact the vendor and report the problem.
