jerky dvd playback

when i play dvds on my laptop,the picture is jerky but sound fine,ive downloaded k lite codec pack to see if this is the playback via usb stick is fine just seems to be dvds that are effected.
dma is enabled for the dvd drive,any help would be much appreciated.
ps its a new laptop one month old

It would seem to be a software problem. I recommend contacting the seller.

There seems to be alot of threads on here lately about probs with playing dvds on pc,s and laptops.Not sure if there is some form of encryption on these discs now to stop you playing them on pc,so to stop individuals attempting to copy them.

funny you say that postie,one of the films i hired rv was jerky,my daughter landed home with a copy of the same film she borrowed off her friend,ive just tried it and guess what smooth as silk.
im hiring films tonight so ill see what happens

I have no problems playing all types of DVDs on my system whether using WMP10, PowerDVD, Nero ShowTime etc.

In WMP, from Tools>Options>File Types is DVD Enabled?

I dont have any probs either,just strange more and more probs seem to be arising bout unstable playback of dvds on pc,s
