Java Runtime question

Hi,
When I look in 'View Objects' in Internet Options I have six Java Runtime Environment entries. One entry is 1.4.2 and the other five are 1.5.0
All say 'Installed' and total size 'None', all have the same creation date (10/11/05) and time. Can I safely delete these six entries?

Cheers, Chris.

Where exactly is the 'View Objects' option, Chris Webster, and which browser are you using?

  Chris Webster 15:19 23 Dec 05

MAJ,

Browser is IE6.

Tools> Internet Options> (Temp Internet Files) Settings> View Objects.

Cheers Chris.

Ahh, got you now, Chris Webster, yes you can delete the duplicates, it wont let you delete the correct entry. When deleted, open a CMD window and type in "java -version" (without the quote marks) and press Return, it will tell you which version of java you have installed, it should be 1.5.0_05-b05.

MAJ,

My installed version is 1.5.0_06-b05

When I try to delete the duplicates in 'View Objects' it says I have to uninstall from within Add/Remove progs.

In Add/Remove I have 4 Java entries,

J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 2

J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 4

J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 6

Java 2 Runtime Environment, SEv1.4.2_03

Which ones, if any, should I remove.

Cheers Chris.

You can remove them all, except the "J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 6" entry, Chris Webster. The updates are cumulative. Mine wasn't updated because I disabled the updater when I was playing with Hijackthis.

MAJ,

Thank you for your help and information.

Cheers Chris.
