Java Plug in Problem

  Steinman 12:17 17 Jul 03

For some unknown reason every time I visit any web site a Java Plug-in Icon appears in the corner in the system tray by my clock.
Never used to. Any ideas how/why? How to get rid of it?

have you installed star office?

Well no & yes so to speak.
I uninstalled the demo version & installed the full version. So, presume its something to do with that then?

if star office did not detect java when installing it will prompt you to install it.if this is what you did then, from time to time the icon appears in the tray when surfing etc.

I thought when S.Off 6 full version installed it detected Java & so did not install it. However, what you say does make good sense. Presume it is safe- no risk of being hacked etc. Do have firewall installed.
