I've lost my Windows XP Home disk!

Must have chucked it out by mistake when I was having a clearout the other day :o(

I have a friend who has a full OS disk like mine was. Can I use hers and enter my COA number from the side of my tower?

Note that I am NOT requesting advice on an illegal OS, just whether the disk itself is tied to a COA number.

TIA

Paul

It should work if you only want to do a repair

Yes you can use your friends disk and your COA number, then you will have to reregister, if you are doing a fresh install.

It is that time of year again when I am cleaning up, so I will be formatting & full reinstall

If you're using certain Dell machines, you can create a new XP CD click here

If you are registered with MS, they may look kindly on a request for a replacement. Worth a try.

johndrew - hadn't thought of that; well worth a try!

Ticked as resolved.
