itunes misses tracks

i have a lot of mp3 files on an external hard drive, seeing as i have an ipod i have to use itunes.

All my songs i play and edit through windows media player 11 and simply have added to itunes by using add folder to library, the problem is that some songs will not add, does anyone know why?

Also why does album art etc only add for certain files?

iTunes can only add songs that are AAC, AIFF, WAV, MP3 (that I am aware of) If you try to add a WMA file it will convert it for you, however, if the file is DRM'ed then it cannon convert and hence it will not be able to add it. I suspect that this is the reason why they are not being added to your iTunes library.

As to why album art is added for some files and not others I cannot help you, sorry.
