itunes has stopped working

Just after getting an auto update itunes froze with the message "itunes has stopped working" I re installed it again and again and quicktime.
It's on vista
any ideas?

I've just had that following the update to iTunes 9. I had to resort to re-installing a disk image. You may be able to fix it by going through the registry and deleting references to iTunes and Apple. I did that and got it working again but it was really flaky and kept crashing so a disk image was the quickest way to get it back to what it was.

P.S. only delete stuff from the registry if you have a good idea of what you're doing and backup all your data before even thinking about trying it.

Try a System Restore to before the update was installed. It didn't work for me but it's worth a try.
