Is it a virus or a hardware fault, the Blue screen

Thanks to all of you who took time to offer advice
I installed Spybot and Adware, between them they cured many problems approaching 50 I think, the main culprit seemed to be a faulty Cookie, anyway the system runs now without shutting down or showing the big blue screen. Thanks in particular to Jester 2K 11. Prof.

blue screens are normally driver related or caused by a software conflict although other things can also cause it like faulty hardware also.

next time you get a blue screen,note down the error exactly as it is on screen and type the number into the search box click here to see if its a known problem and get a fix.
