Is it useful to switch from 32 WinXP to x64?

I currently have WinXP 32-bit installed on my computer. Recently I noticed an emulator that only runs on the 64 bit version of WinXP. Would it be worth it to install it and what are some of the changes that would maybe occur? I was also wondering if it would drastically slow my system down. I have a Celeron 3.06 Mhz Processor, 3GB RAM, and an Radeon X550 128 MB Graphics Card. I plan on playing games but not sure if it's worth the hassle. Thanks!

Personally I would stick with 32bit, I don't think there are as many 64bit compatible programs/games available.

I agree with Technotiger.

With the 64bit OS, all the drivers have to be digitally signed else they will not work, so you would be very likely to come across some software/hardware that would not have a digitally signed driver and as such would not work/install etc.

Thanks for the answers. I guess I'll just stick with the 32 bit version then. Thanks for the advice!
