Issue with Norton Internet Security ???

Hi all

my PC runs XP and I have installed on it Norton Internet Security 2005.

Last week I got infected with a Backdoor.Haxdoor variant and, although NIS got rid of most of the infected files, I was left with one that I couldn't clear. The message that was displayed was :-

C:\WINDOWS\system32\MSplg.dll is infected with the Backdoor.Haxdoor virus

The reason I couldn't purge this file is likely to be because it was still running so the solution should have been to run a scan in safe mode. However when I tried this, Norton just wouldn't run and it just kept on bombing out on me.

Does anyone know anything about this or how to get around this ??

Incidentally, I finally got rid of the infection by running the trial version of GriSoft AVG7.0 in safe mode. Other freebee applications like a2 couldn't detect the virus at all.

personally i prefer avg free, great piece of kit and not resource hungry.
