A issue with my XP

There is a problem with the start menu in my Windows XP Home version.

I am using the default style of start menu. But I cannot sort the names (they are shortcuts) of different programs by right click my mouse. Usually, when your mouse stops on a program name in the list, you can right click your mouse and selet 'sort by names' and so on. But at present, there is not any response when I right click my mouse.

But, in the classical menu style (windows 2000 style), I can sort program names by right clicking my mouse.

How can solve the problem?

Thank you in advance!

Try right-clicking the Start button and choosing properties, then customize, then advanced. The box to enable dragging and dropping should be selected. If it isn't it also turns off the menu you are not seeing.
