How do I get rid of the network neighborhood icon from my desktop (Windows 98 2nd.)There was an earlier thread but the sequence recommended doesn't make sense on my setup.

Do you have a network connection in use? If not then right click it and go to properties. From there remove all the network components and reboot the machine. It should've now gone.

If you do have a network connection don't do that! Something like TweakUI may allow you to do this.

This worked for me -

'Go to Start, Run, type regedit, click ok. HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer. Click on an empty space in the right pane to bring up a menu. Create a New Dword. Name it NoNetHood (copy this exactly as typed here). Double click on it and set the value to 1. Reboot.'
