XP Pro SP2 system, blue screen of death with technical info: STOP: 0*0000000A (0*00000000,0*00000002,0*00000001,0*804EC6EA).

Any advice on how to detect the faulty hardware/software greatly appreciated.

Unfortunately the fourth parameter 0*804EC6EA is not mentioned in that link!

Have ou installed any new software of hardware recently? IRQL errors are frequently the result of changes to your system.

An example of the sort of thing that can cause this:

I have a machine that consistently gives IRQL errors if a USB printer attached to it is switched on during bootup. If the printer is switched off, computer booted and printer then switched on, everything is OK.

A big problem with these errors is that so many things can be the cause but, if there are recent changes, that should narrow it down a bit.

The fault appears so infrequently it's not really feasible to leave printer, scanner etc disconnected for an indefinite time. I'm hoping that someone out there is able to identify the fourth parameter. The alternative, I suppose, is simply to live with it until a permanent fault appears.
