IPX/SPX/NetBIOS Networking Question

I have a home network where the main computer runs Windows XP Professional and the others have either Windows XP Home or Windows 98. The Windows XP Professional computer was used to produce the Network Setup Disc. My problem is that when you view the properties of my Local Area Connection on both Windows XP computers, the Internal Network Number, shown when you select the properties for the NWLink IPX/SPX/NetBIOS Compatable Transport Protocol, keeps on changing. This causes a real headache for the computers on the network which are sometimes used to play network versions of games, such as Red Alert 2, which rely on this Protocol and need the Internal Network Number set to 00000000.
This problem has only recently appeared after a fault meant that the network needed to be re-installed so does anyone know what setting has caused this?
Thanks.
