Hi all

I have a 120gig ipod classic, and i use itunes8. I rip my cds to 'my music' folder. I then drag and drop my music to itunes. The problem i have is that i have the music stored in my music and stored in itunes. This is taking a load of space! any idea how i can reduce the space that itunes and my music are consuming??

thanks

when the kids filled up the pc (80 Gb)I quickly determined that their music collections were the biggest culprit. I just bought a bigger hard drive and cloned the entire disc onto it. We've now got another 150 Gb space to fill.

There is no need to have the music in both places, in iTunes, Choose Edit, Preferences and click Advanced. Take the tick out of the "Copy files to iTunes music folder" checkbox. and click ok. the next time you add more music iTunes will just reference where the songs are stored (your my music folder), check out iTunes help.."importing" for more info ...alB
