This is completely beyond me as I only have a simple mobile for my needs. My son has an iphone 3GS which he says is failing, I can find nothing wrong with it apart from saying it is not charging when in fact it is. He has obtained a replacement and wants to backup everything on it to save and to put on the new phone. I was just going to copy it to a DVD or the HDD but am told that is no good and that it has to be done via iTunes and that has to be registered to my computer. Completely confused, can anyone explain please.

You can use iTunes or iCloud to Backup & Restore your iPhone
