ipconfig problem

trying to setup a wireless network between my main machine and my wireless laptop.
i have ran through the wizard and followed all the instructions, but, I still have a problem of the laptop seeing the network but not joining it.
On laptop I type in run/cmd/ipconfig and get the following message:
media status .......:media disconnected?
Any help would be grateful.

In the command prompt add "/all" (without the quotes) at the end of ipconfig. This will show all the data including your IP address, your IP address could be the problem. Make sure it is consitent with your network. e.g. 192.168.0.1 Main PC & 192.168.0.2 laptop.

Ok , might be teaching my grandmother to suck eggs here , but you are selecting the network you have visable , double clicking on it and entering the WEP or WPA key , in the right case , and clicking on " connect " aren't you ?
