I/O device error

I get the above error when i put my compact Flash camera card in the reader. It used to work ok

Any help please Win XP sp2

Can you still view the contents of the card in the camera?
If not it might be worth re-formatting it in the camera.

I have never had your problem, but it seems that formatting a card in the computer can make the thing unreadable in the camera.

There's always the possiblity of the card being defective or even the reader, but substitution is the only test ordinary folk can try.

I can still read it in camera and on other pc

Well that leaves the card reader!

Assuming it is USB connected the next thing is to go to Control Panel > System > Hardware > Device Manager.

Open up the USB controllers at the bottom of the list and uninstall every one.

Reboot the computer.

Windows will find the drivers and replace them with a brand new set automatically.
