'Invalid System Disk' error' in Win98 se

  coolteentom 16:58 29 Aug 04

I accidently turned off my Windows 98 SE PC while it was loading, and now I am getting an error while trying to boot up:

Invalid System disk.
Replace the disk, and then press any key

Does anyone know what the problem is?

cheers, tom

Cannot find operating system on your hard disk.

What was it loading?

If loading the Win98 operating system then the system is not loaded correctly.

Boot from the floppy and re - install win98

No only the operating system desktop settings and program links.

Youwill probably have to re install office etc.

Make sure there isn't a floppy in the drive first.

Boot up with a Start-up disc to a DOS prompt.

At the prompt, type;

sys c: [enter]

and see if you can now reboot.

WARNING. If you are using disc layering software, don't use this command before making sure the layering software drivers have loaded.
